May 28 is the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, which for over 30 years, women’s* rights advocates and allies in the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) movement worldwide have commemorated in diverse ways. The range of topics and campaign themes throughout the years includes access to quality health care, access to safe and legal abortion, women and HIV/AIDS, Violence Against Women as a Global Health Emergency, and Young People’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, among others. Year after year, women, girls, advocates and allies have continued to take action and stand up for sexual and reproductive rights for what they are: an indivisible and inalienable part of our human rights.

At Clue it is our mission to help everyone who menstruates to understand their bodies—and to be empowered by that knowledge. Our vision is to enable women and people with cycles to live in tune with their biology, not in spite of it.

These values are expressed in everything we do, every product and new feature we develop, and every scientific research partnership. Clue’s users are part of a global movement. When tracking your cycle, you’re not only helping yourself to understand your body and wellbeing, you’re also contributing to scientific research and thereby helping other people with cycles.

That’s why Clue eagerly accepted an invitation this year to be a corporate leader and help steer the United Nations’ Generation Equality Action Coalitions: an innovative partnership of member states, feminist and youth-led organizations, international organizations, and the private sector designed to propel a dramatic acceleration in the fight for gender equality. The Coalition’s mission is to catalyze collective action; spark global and local conversations among generations; drive increased public and private investment; and deliver concrete progress on gender equality across generations for girls and women and people with cycles around the globe.  A complete list of all Action Coalitions and leaders can be found here.

This effort recognizes that 25 years after the landmark World Conference on Women in Beijing, no country has yet achieved full gender equality. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this lack of progress, deepening women’s poverty and increasing rates of domestic violence. Together the Action Coalitions are working to ensure that this global event does not result in a roll back of women’s hard-won gains and to ensure gender equality is at the center now and as the world works to right itself after the pandemic.

The movement will be picking up steam in the coming weeks, culminating in the Generation Equality Forum in Paris which will take place from June 30th to July 2nd. Attended by Heads of State, the Paris Forum will convene Governments, international organizations, civil society, youth, the private sector and activists from the entire world to make concrete, ambitious and sustainable commitments towards achieving gender equality. The hope is that by pulling these incredible groups of people together, this event will create an ecosystem among these representatives to work to achieve gender equality while ensuring sustainability and accountability.

Registration is now open until Sunday, June 27th at midnight Paris time (CEST).

We must resist any rollback of our sexual and reproductive rights. These issues may affect you now, they may affect you some other time in your life - so let us remember that as long as our rights are not equal, there is work we all must do. There are many ways you too can take action this May 28. In this toolkit, you'll find suggested actions on how you or your organization can spread awareness around these campaign messages and themes. Making progress on our individual and collective elevation through knowledge is in our own hands now. And let us remember that if anyone’s cycle is not honored equally, we all have more work to do.

We hope you will join Clue in calling to #EndInequalityPandemic, asserting once again that #SRHRisEssential, and demanding accountability because #WomensHealthMatters!

We are committed to making it happen. And every single data point you enter and share within the Clue app empowers you to be in charge of your health and moves us all closer to that global revolution in female health.
